Why The Location Move?

We are excited to share with you the brilliant new location we’ve found for SAMF ’19. After being at Addams/Medill for three years, the move was necessary due to the City of Chicago’s much needed development plans that limited our previous space and would have made it impossible to present SAMF ’19 there.  Basically, the site was getting smaller when our vision for SAMF was to grow it bigger.  So, we engaged in an exhaustive search which eventually brought us to a great setting: Poplar Creek in Hoffman Estates. All of us at React thank you, our friends and supporters, for your patience during this time.

We are excited for the possibilities that come with the move to Poplar Creek. It’s a perfect festival location with a rich musical history – adjacent to the Sears Centre Arena, and by the former site of the Poplar Creek Music Theater. This decision was made with our fans in mind, in order to deliver them the best Spring Awakening at a site that is perfect for live electronic music production and will offer a superior experience.

Benefits of our new location include (and there are many more):

  • 27 acres of land for bigger and better stages, expanded massive production, and enhanced experiential environments (almost three times the size of Addams/Medill).
