React Presents is proud to announce that we’re partnering with OurMusicMyBody for Spring Awakening 2019.
Our joint effort comes as a direct response to reports of widespread sexual harassment and intimidation at other music festivals. We are sending a loud and clear message: sexual harassment is not welcome at any of our festivals or events.
Every one of us at React and Spring Awakening is dedicated to creating safer spaces for all music fans. We believe that addressing harassment and sexual violence, directly, is key to making these changes. We are working with our staff and security personnel to ensure our festival events are safe and welcoming spaces for all.
We ask that you practice active and enthusiastic consent while you are here. This means communicating, respecting, and supporting the people around you. Not only does “no mean no,” but “yes” is voluntary, clear, and mutual. Look out for your friends and fellow festivalgoers – and if something seems wrong, please alert festival personnel.
Here are some key examples of unwelcome behavior:
We will not tolerate any harassment and will respond accordingly when witnessed or reported, our priority is to support the patron harmed and to make sure that they are able to enjoy themselves for the remainder of festival without fear of harassment.
OurMusicMyBody will also host booths in the community area at each of our festivals, providing information on how you can get involved, giveaways, and a welcoming area where you can connect with others dedicated to keeping entertainment spaces safe for everyone. We’re excited to be working with OurMusicMyBody to modernize our approach to keeping our festivals harassment-free.
On behalf of all of us, thank you for your commitment to making Spring Awakening an excellent experience for all involved. We can’t do it without you and we’re looking forward to another great year of fun in the sun with all of our friends and favorite music.
